Most of my tech stack just became a geopolitical risk

Most of my tech stack just became a geopolitical risk.

I saw the US tariffs against countries that defend Denmark's sovereignty. My anxiety surged.

Reality hit: Most of my stack is US-based.

Digital sovereignty is a founder problem now.

The Greenland crisis and the monthly threats directed at Canada are wake-up calls for anyone building tech in the West.

As a French citizen living in Canada, I'm very concerned.

Actually, I'm honestly infuriated.

The hard truth: The US has become an unreliable partner. You cannot build a foundation on shifting sand.

When infrastructure can be decapitated by a single executive order, relying on country-based proprietary stacks is a strategic risk.

The new playbook:

→ Resilience: Can't be cut off from a country? You don't own your product. → Portability: Truly portable architectures are no longer options. → Data: Local hosting means nothing if governments retain backdoor access. → AI: Your intelligence goes mainly to 3 US-based AI vendors.

I'm adding a new filter to every tech decision. I will advise startups to decrease dependency and increase true ownership.

Build portable. Choose vendors you can leave. Don't bind yourself to infrastructure you can't quit.

What was extreme two years ago is now our baseline planning.

The turning point is here.

Are you revising your strategy following recent tensions? I can't be the only one.
